Revenue Minister K Rajan announced in a press conference that it has been decided to start MBA courses under the leadership of the Revenue Department related to land conservation, water conservation and disaster management. The courses will be held at the Institute of Land and Management, an autonomous training institute of the Revenue Department. MBA courses in Land Governance, Disaster Management and River and Water Management will be started from this academic year.
The Minister clarified that the courses will be affiliated to Kerala University. Each program will have 30 seats in the first year. The admission process will be completed on September 9 and the classes will start on September 13.
Graduates from any Indian University under regular stream recognized by University of Kerala can apply. Study should be in 10+2+3 pattern (or 10+2+4 pattern). Must have passed Part III / Core Plus Complementary BA, BSc / BE/ B.Tech, B.Sc (Agri) in Graduation Examination with not less than 50% marks/equivalent grade (rounding off not allowed). And other 4/5 year degree courses with 50% marks will also be considered. MA/MSc PG degree recognized by Kerala University with 50% marks/equivalent grade are also eligible for admission. SC/ST, SEBC and differently abled candidates will be given relaxation as per University rules. Candidates must have a valid score from any entrance test conducted by K-MAT, C-MAT, or CAT. They Must pass the qualifying examination conducted by the institution.
A two-year course, MBA Land Governance, is launched with a focus on management and governance of land resources, with the aim of empowering future generations to address complex challenges related to land use, land rights and sustainable development. Learners integrate economics, land law, and public policy at the international level to enable land valuation, acquisition, disposal, and development implementation.
Graduates who complete the course can work in government organizations related to the revenue department, in legal and policy-making movements, and in non-governmental organizations such as land assays. Can also work as a consultant in areas like real estate and urban planning. It also provides opportunities to become entrepreneurs who develop policies and programs related to land rights, land boundary disputes and sustainable land management practices.
There are many opportunities in the United Nations and other international organizations such as the World Bank for students who gain expertise in subjects such as LAND MARKET AND PRICING, LAND LAWS, LAND REFORMS, LAND ADMINISTRATION SYSTEMS, AND SOCIETY, APPROACHES AND MODELS FOR SURVEYING AND SETTLEMENT IN LAND ADMINISTRATION.
MBA Disaster Management MBA graduates can play a critical role in emergency response and preparedness. There are great opportunities for those working in the field of disaster management globally in the United Nations and national and state level government initiatives, voluntary organizations and private organizations. It also provides opportunities to work as risk management experts in the insurance sector and to work in academic research fields.
Professionals who complete the course gain expertise in risk assessment, disaster mitigation, and management of natural disasters such as earthquakes and man-made disasters such as terrorist attacks. Disasters affecting very large land areas such as earthquakes and tsunamis, Disasters occur in different ways such as torrential floods, landslides, back-to-back disasters such as infectious diseases, endemic infectious diseases like Nipah. By analyzing huge data with the help of artificial intelligence and mission learning, it is possible to accurately detect and prevent the trend and impact of these disasters.
An international standard syllabus has been prepared in disaster prevention to enable the students to do this. A course on Professional Communication for Disaster Management will be taught to students with the help of experts from the United States, as the importance of communication in international coordination is very relevant.
MBA River and Water Management is a program designed to enhance resource capacity in sustainable management and governance of rivers and water resources. The program produces experts in diverse fields such as water scarcity, pollution, habitat conservation, water supply, water resources planning and policy formulation, international and interstate water resources management.
Students who acquire expertise in subjects such as RIVER BASIN MANAGEMENT, CHANGING TREND OF WATER MANAGEMENT, SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT, GROUND WATER MANAGEMENT, LAND USE AND WATER MANAGEMENT, CLIMATE CHANGE AND WATER MANAGEMENT can work at a practical level in the field of river integration and river basin management. and flood control, erosion prevention, habitat restoration, water policy formulation, Can work in the areas of environmental impact studies, dams and water quality. In addition, technology opportunities such as water monitoring systems, data analytics and water resource modeling can be explored.
Some courses in disaster management are conducted by experts from the United States through the US Embassy. Western Sydney University has signed an MoU with the India – Australia Water Center to collaborate with Australia. India Universities and Institutions Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (IUINDRR) has been affiliated to National Disaster Management Institute for national level coordination. An MoU has also been signed to collaborate with the Kerala Government’s Young Innovation Program to foster entrepreneurship. Efforts are being made to collaborate with institutions like Kasaragod Central University and Kerala University.
While studying, the courses are structured in such a way that on-the-job training can be acquired in the control rooms of the Revenue Department and at various other levels. A one-year internship with stipend is also envisaged for those selected who complete the course. The minister said that those who will be appointed to the government services in the future will gain experience in their respective fields. Revenue Principal Secretary Tinku Biswal, Land Revenue Commissioner T.V. Anupama, I.L.D.M. Director Dr. Sajith Babu, Survey Director Seeram Sambasiva Rao and Revenue Joint Commissioner Arjun Pandian also attended the press conference.
